March reopening letter

4 March 2021 (by admin)

Date: 02.03.21

Dear Parents/ Carers

With just 6 days to go before we plan to reopen the school, it’s amazing to reflect back on the last couple months at school, within Doncaster and the country. Thankfully for everyone in Doncaster infection rates are much lower than at the start of January and long may this continue. The school is busily preparing for the reopening with the aim of welcoming all our children back in as safe a way as possible. We are excited and really looking forward to working with our pupils again in school.

We are planning a full return of all our pupils on Monday 8th March. The systems which have been working correctly last term will resume from Monday.

The school will operate larger class bubbles across the school in the same way as the Autumn Term:

Yr 5 and 6 will be a bubble

Yr 3 and 4 will be a bubble

Yr 1 and 2 will be a bubble

Foundation Unit will be a bubble

Staggered start and end times each day – the same timings for each year group as the Autumn Term – a reminder will be in the letter on Friday.

There will be staggered starts and ends of the day to minimise the number of pupils and adults on the playgrounds at any one time. This will be emailed directly to you on Friday. It will also highlight where your child will enter the building. Unfortunately, we will not be able to allow parents/ carers from KS1 and KS2 into the building at the start or end of the day. Essential meetings will need to be made by appointment only.

A video explaining these protocols and the classroom layout will be on the website by 03.03.21

All procedures are in line with National Guidance and LA support. Each school is unique and has its own challenges. Our particular difficulties are around entrances to the school and getting into classrooms. A lot of newer schools have classroom exit doors – our does not. So our procedures are built around this issue particularly and getting children into school without congestion within the corridors. The benefit of our school is the high ceilings and large number of windows.

Hot School meals will be available from the first day of opening – vouchers are stopping

Cleaning procedures have been maintained as they were in the Autumn term and this includes increased times for our cleaning team to be on site cleaning each day.

Attendance:

The government have now instructed all schools to return to standard attendance guidance from before COVID-19. This means attendance is now expected of everyone, where holidays would not normally be authorized and low attendance referred to the Education Welfare Officer. Of course some of our families may be concerned and worried about a return to school – please contact us to discuss how we can support you. Some of our families may well have received shielding letters and again please contact us to discuss how we can help.

Test, Trace and Track:

The school must strictly follow government guidance in this area and we will ensure all safety procedures are followed. Staff have and will continue to receive information and training related to the coronavirus. The school will also be working very closely with Public Health England/ Doncaster should there be any concerns.

Also as a staff we now have access to regular testing twice per week so we have increased confidence we are not accidently coming to work infected with COVID-19.

Home – School Agreement:

You will all be emailed a Home – School Agreement which will outline the expectations of School/ pupils and parents whilst on school premises. Following the procedures is crucial to reducing any risk to us all and it is vital we work together to ensure social distancing is maintained and we keep any gatherings on site to an absolute minimum. Time keeping will be incredibly important to ensure the health and safety of everyone. Children will need to follow all school protocols very carefully.
